Care Guide
Caring for Your Fakira
Every Fakira saree is woven from natural cotton by skilled hands. Like all handcrafted textiles, it carries the quiet beauty of human touch. With mindful care, it will soften over time, age gracefully, and accompany you for years to come.
Washing
Wash separately for the first few washes.
Hand wash in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid soaking for long periods and never use bleach or harsh chemicals. If machine washing is necessary, use a delicate cycle, cold water, and place the saree inside a laundry bag.
Drying
Gently squeeze out excess water without wringing. Dry in the shade with good air circulation. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may gradually fade the colour.
Ironing
Iron on a medium cotton setting while the fabric is slightly damp, or use steam. Ironing on the reverse side helps preserve the fabric's finish.
Storage
Store folded in a cool, dry place. A cotton or muslin bag is ideal, allowing the fabric to breathe while protecting it from dust. Avoid storing in plastic for extended periods.
Natural Variations
Slight variations in weave, texture, and colour are an inherent part of handloom textiles. These are not flaws, but reminders that your saree was made by artisans—not machines. No two pieces are ever exactly alike.
A Gentle Reminder
Natural fibres are meant to be lived in, not preserved untouched. With every careful wash and every wear, your Fakira saree develops a character uniquely its own. Caring for it is also a way of honouring the hands that wove it and the earth that provided its fibres.
